Last Sunday I was excited to see the talking heads concentrate only on the proposed Mosque in New York, as if nothing else was happening in our world. Apparently, when a President shows his support for the Constitution he was sworn to protect, this somehow makes him an enemy to his own country.

So let’s see how each side is doing, just for fun, first the Democrats and their huge failings:

Defending Freedom of Religion makes you an enemy of the state. Defending the right for everyone to be EQUAL, including marriage, makes you an enemy to the sanctity of marriage. Defending the right for a woman to choose makes you an enemy of the unborn. Defending the Constitution saying ‘Born in the U.S.A.’ makes you a law-breaker-lover. Showing respect to another country means you are ‘apologizing’ for America.

Showing respect to a foreign leader means you are ‘bowing down’ to them. Fighting to stop the unnecessary deaths of THOUSANDS of Americans due to lack of healthcare makes you a Socialist. Stopping a recession from becoming a depression makes you the worst president since Carter. Telling kids to stay in school makes you a Maoist trying to indoctrinate our children. Stopping credit card companies, Wall Street, mortgage companies and health insurance companies from destroying our middle class makes you a Big Government evil-doer.

Winning a Nobel Peace Prize for bringing an era of hope and peace into a post-Bush-debacle-world makes you unworthy. Fist bumping your wife makes you a terrorist. Being proud of the name you were given makes you a secret Muslim. Being born in an American state makes you a Kenyan and saying that a country that is only 67% Christian is NOT a Christian-only nation, makes you the anti-Christ. Oh, and remember, pointing out the facts of what you walked into, the day you took office, makes you a ‘blamer’.

Got it, okay, now let’s see how the other side is doing with their huge victories for America:

Voting no on finding a solution that would allow the most medically advanced country in the world to stop allowing 14,000 people die every year, due to lack of healthcare, is Patriotic. Voting no, for a system that would allow 50 million people to afford healthcare without going bankrupt, makes you a decent, moral American. Voting against a stimulus to stop a recession from turning into a depression (that your party was responsible for) was showing how much you want your country to succeed. Voting against a bill that would provide healthcare for those HEROIC men and women, who put their lives in danger during 9/11, (in order to save fellow Americans), makes you a moral and just Patriot.

Sending men and women to die, in war that is based on lies and non-factual evidence, shows you ‘honor our troops’. Allowing human beings to be tortured and refusing to follow the rules of the Geneva Convention makes you a respected citizen of the world. Voting against Finance Reform that would not allow banks and institutions to systematically destroy your fellow citizens, in the name of profit, shows you have ethical values. Voting against extending unemployment benefits for MILLIONS of Americans, who are out of work because of YOUR party’s failures, shows you are following your Judeo-Christian ethics of do unto others. Voting to keep Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell, even after you are blatantly aware that gay men and women have fought and died for YOUR freedom, shows you respect your non-hypocritcal ‘ideologies’.

Deciding the 14th Amendment is ‘misunderstood’ by the majority of America makes you an intellectual. Deciding those immigrants who have been here for decades are suddenly ‘invading us’ and are ‘dangerous, drug mule, be-headers’ means you are concerned about our safety. Voting against EVERYTHING your president is doing to help fix this country from what was, in all probability, the worst president in history, shows your allegiance to your Country. Voting against allowing people who are different from you, to have equal rights under the law, shows you respect our Constitution.

Fighting against abortion but allowing thousands of children to die either in a war or lack of healthcare, makes you a moralist. Calling your democratically-elected president a fake, non-citizen, Muslim,  witch doctor, socialist, Marxist shows that you respect the results of a Democracy which allows a majority of Americans to decide who they want to lead this country.

I’m not saying the way you feel is wrong, hypocritical, unchristian, racist, idiotic, unethical, ignorant, or that you are just a bunch of whiney, sore-losers. But, what I am thinking is that if the Founding Fathers were anything like you, people who are willing to fail a country, in order to fail a president…we’d all be eating crumpets, drinking afternoon tea and singing God Save the Queen.

I, for one, am glad America is resilient enough to survive your version of Patriotism, your definition of Morality and your incredibly interesting display of Christian Values. We are a great nation, and God has already blessed America, as you have helped prove, time and time again.

That was fun, let’s do it again sometime. Cheerio!
