We do have a wonderful place to board dogs here. Animal Magnetism, behind Big O tires. She's also a groomer...my little guy LOVES her and I would trust her boarding him any day. What we really need is a kennel not only for stray animals, but to help with adopting the dogs as well as a program for spaying/neutering. This community is too behind the times when it comes to spays, neuters, lease laws and the like...and the dogs are the ones paying the price.

I can't believe I am reading this: after 45 years, Globe-Miami still does NOT have a kennel?!?! Back in the late '50's, when we were newcomers to this area, we had an emergency situation which required us leaving town and we desperately needed to board our German Shepherds...but even in a community of this size there was no kennel. What the h__ll is wrong with you people?

Hey, not that I know of, but I can imagine there are others in the community who would be interested in starting something. Cherl Brazell owns Past Times Antiques, heads up the Humane Society and has dogs. She might be a good person to talk to, as well as Ladonna who just opened up Puppy Love Treats on Hwy 60. She has an agility course set up for dogs.
Hope this helps.

Is there a Kennel/Dog club in Globe/Miami area? Anybody who competes in obedience trials with their dogs?

My husband and I take our dogs, Freckles and Sweetie Pie, to the dog park at least once or twice a week and we all love it. Thank you to the City of Globe for providing such a wonderful space for our dogs to romp and play. Although we have a fenced yard at home for our dogs, it doesn't provide the running room our wild Springer Spaniel, Freckles needs to really let loose. He runs the length and width of the field the whole time we're there. Sweetie Pie is a little more laid back but still enjoys herself immensely. Most of all, Dik and I enjoy watching our "kids" have such a good time!

I recently discovered the dog park and it is wonderful for both me and my dog. A chance for me to walk on flat ground and for my dog to be free to be a dog. Thank you City of Globe for letting property that would just be sitting there unused, be used.

I use the dog park on a daily basis and have met wonderful dogs and people there. I was dismayed by our city, however, when some dog owners went to use the the DOG park and found it occupied by ball players. One woman brought her dog in anyway, and when one of the ball players threw his glove at her dog, the dog did what any normal dog would do and ran with it. Police were called and, rather than have the ball players disperse, the responding officer threatened the woman with arrest! The officer claimed there was no signage indicating the park was a dog park, despite the 10' or so sign outlining the dog park rules. The city did a wonderful thing by designated an unused park a dog park, but has failed the people who use it miserably and subjected us to repeated harassment by not educating the public nor its own employees.

I visited the dog park recently with my very old, very slow but friendly Gordon Setter (with my sometimes less-than-friendly White Shepherd watching from the car). The people I encountered were more friendly and accepting than any other social setting I've entered in Globe. What a wonderful community they have developed! I am really grateful for those folks who were visionary enough to push for this asset for our community.
